A man who was filmed towing his boat down the Pacific Highway with a mobility scooter has been charged by police.

Shane Swancott was allegedly using the scooter to get around after losing his driver's licence on a separate matter, according to Nine News.

A member of the public filmed the 35-year-old towing his 17-foot boat by mobility scooter in Belmont, near Newcastle, on October 19 this year.

The video shows Mr Swancott driving past a NSW Highway Patrol vehicle, after which he is pulled over.
