A major sporting coup for the Gold Coast which will host the inaugural NFL International Draft next month.
Mayor Tom Tate is expected to reveal the plans for the September event on Monday morning.
It will mark the first time the NFL has ever held an event of such nature outside of the USA.
The so-called Gold Coast International Combine will see scouts from NFL teams come to the city and run their eyes over 75 athletes from across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga on the Gold Coast on October 6.
The announcement comes after the success of former rugby league player Jordan Mailata, who was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles to become an offensive tackle, as well as Jarryd Hayne's stint at the San Francisco 49ers.
